Lakewood Man Charged With Sexual Assault Of 12-Year-Old Girl: Prosecutor

Sexual abuse went on for a year, spokesman said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has arrested a 58-year-old Lakewood man and charged him with multiple sexual assaults of a 12-year-old-girl over the past year.

Istvan Mehesz, 58, Monmouth Avenue, was arrested on Thursday after a joint investigation by Prosecutor's Office Detective Alex Dasti, Lakewood Detective Michael Cavallo and the New Jersey State Police, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

Mehesz was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Della Fave said.

Authorities used New Jersey State Trooper Kristina Pados as an interpreter in the case, since the Hungarian defendant speaks no English, he said.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor Christine Lento approved the charges after reviewing the investigation results, Della Fave said.

Mehesz was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River pending a detention hearing. The court issued a no contact with the victim order pursuant to Nicole's Law, Della Fave said.
