A Letter To The Editor From Former Berkeley School Board Member James Fulcomer

Why does the Berkeley Township school district need a 2,200-square foot building?

A Letter to the Editor from former Berkeley Township Board of Education member James Fulcomer:

The Berkeley Township school district is getting ready to build a 2,200-square foot addition to its administrative office. For what purpose?

This is big enough enough for a house for (Superintendent James Roselli.) Has Roselli informed all his board members that he is having this addition built?

At least one board member was questioned on this planning board approval and she said she knew nothing about it.

If the Central Regional superintendent was also Berkeley Township's superintendent, this never woud have happened and never would have been considered.

This is another example of the waste of the taxpayers' money because we have two superintendents instead of one superintendent and two sets of department heads instead of one.

Former Superintendent Joseph Vicari eliminated the position of assistant superintendent to save money. Roselli restored the position of assistant superintendent to spend more money.

These unnecessary positions not only involve taxpayer money for their high salaries and generous benefits but also involve the hiring of secretaries to service them, office space, office furniture and equipment, use of school vehicles, office supplies and unanticipated expenses that develop with the continuance of these unnecessary jobs.

This money would be better spent on the classroom teacher activities that actually educate our children and better spent on tax relief for the hard-pressed taxpayers of our township.

This is another sad day for Berkeley Township.
