Missing Yorkshire Terrier Believed Stolen Is Safe At Home
The little dog was found behind the new Wawa in South Toms River
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Sophie, the little 8-pound Yorkshire terrier believed stolen from her Holiday Heights home earlier this week, is now back with her owner where she belongs.
The tiny dog was found behind the new Wawa store in South Toms River today.
"It looks like someone might have dropped off Sophie behind the Wawa," wrote Matt Geissinger on the Lost Dog Search and Rescue Facebook page. "She was found in the backyard of a homeowner. When the homeowner's dog started to bark, the homeowner looked out the window. Sophie was in their backyard. Thanks to social media, Sophie's owner was called and then reunited."

Sophie's sweater was found discarded on Tuesday on Davenport Road, just a block or two away from her last last confirmed sighting on the corner of Trent Drive and Prince Charles Drive in the Holiday Heights section of Berkeley Township, according to an earlier post.
"That leads us to believe that she was picked up by someone," according to the post.

Searchers had asked residents if they saw someone with a dog who had never had a dog before and resembled Sophie to contact them.
