National Weather Service: Severe Thunderstorms And 'Pea-Size' Hail Possible Over The Next Few Hours
NWS issued severe thunderstorm watch for both Ocean and Monmouth counties.

Strong thunderstorms with winds up to 40 miles per hour are heading towards Ocean and Monmouth counties within the next several hours, according to a special statement by the National Weather Service.
"Pea-size" hail is also possible with the storm, which could last until 9 p.m., the NWS said.
"Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding," according to a report on the NWS website. "Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways."

Be aware that frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with the storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm, so find safe shelter in a building or vehicle.
The storms could intensify, so listen to local radio and available television stations for more information and more possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

The watch will be in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.
