No Injuries Reported In Recent Natural Gas Leak In Bayville
Some homes had to be evacuated, but no one was injured.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - No one was injured in a recent mid-afternoon gas leak in the Morris Boulevard area, but some residents were evacuated and several roads were closed, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
Patrolman Jerry Bacon and Patrolman Michael Connell responded to the area of Richard Road and Morris Boulevard at 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 11 on a report of a large natural gas leak, the chief said.
It was quickly determined that a valve had malfunctioned, which sent a large amount of natural gas into the air, the chief said.

Crews from New Jersey Natural Gas Company and members of the Bayville Fire Department arrived almost immediately to mitigate the situation, DiMichele said.
New Jersey Natural Gas crews were able to secure the gas valve and the gas flow, so residents could return to their homes and the roads could be reopened, she said.

"Work on the valve is still ongoing by the gas company," DiMichele said.
