The National Weather Service is calling for choppy surf and a moderate risk of rip currents today on Ocean County beaches.

Skies will be mostly sunny today, but there's a slight chance of showers. Highs will only be in the mid-70s. Winds will be from the west at 10 miles per hour.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents. If you want to go swimming, find a guarded beach. There are still some towns that have lifeguards on duty. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Waves will be around 4 feet high, with southeast swells of 3 feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the National Weather Service considers high. There is no lightning threat today.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 9 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 3:24 p.m., followed by another high tide at 9:19 p.m.
