Ocean County Beach Report: Coastal Flood Warning Issued Ahead Of Jose
Offshore waves will reach heights of 15 feet, breaking surf up to 10 feet, National Weather Service says

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Ocean and Monmouth counties with the approach of Hurricane Jose.
Spotty minor flooding is expected tonight, becoming more widespread on Tuesday night. Moderate tidal flooding is possible on Tuesday night.
The oceanfront high tide in Ocean and Monmouth counties will between 6:45 p.m and 8:15 p.m., with up to two feet higher than normal with the astronomical tide.

"Coastal flooding will pose a risk to both life and property for the high tide cycles Tuesday, and Tuesday night," the NWS says. "In particular, widespread moderate coastal flooding is possible for the oceanfront, back bays, and Delaware Bay with the late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night high tide cycle."
Hazardous seas and dangerous surf could result in dangerous and life-threatening currents through most of the week, the NWS says.

Wave heights are forecast to increase to 15 feet in the open ocean waters off the coast. Breaking wave heights will gradually increase to 10 feet.
Significant beach erosion is expected for most of the week.
Tropical force winds will arrive in Southern New Jersey by Tuesday morning. The strongest winds will be confined to the immediate coast, with less windy conditions inland.
It goes without saying you should stay out of the water.
