The National Weather Service is calling for choppy surf and a moderate risk of rip currents today at Ocean County beaches.
That means even if you can find a guarded beach, speak to lifeguards about water conditions first. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.
Waves will be around 4 feet high, with southeasterly swells of 3 feet. The ocean water temperature is 71 degrees.

Skies will be mostly cloudy today, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The air temperature will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 miles per hours.
The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the National Weather Service considers high. There's a moderate risk of lightning, which means thunderstorms are possible.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 9:05 a.m. High tide will arrive at 3:13 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:10 p.m.
