Ocean County Beach Weather Report: Surf Still Choppy, Rip Current Risk Drops Slightly

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies with a lower chance of rip currents today.

But waves will still be high, from 4 to 6 feet, with easterly swells of three feet. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees. There's a slight chance of showers with isolated thunderstorms.

There's a moderate chance of rips today. Make sure you swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you alway bring a flotation device with you in the water. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees.

Highs today will be in the lower 80s. Winds will be from the west at 10 miles per hour. The ultraviolet index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. The lightning threat is low.

So take advantage of the sun while you can. It looks like Saturday will be a washout.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet will roll in at 9:58 a.m. High tide will arrive at 4:11 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:45 p.m.
