The first "Ocean County Field Day," held on Sept. 6, 1947, had a few 4-H exhibits, some concession stands and about 500 guests at Ocean County Park in Lakewood. By 1967, it had grown into the Ocean County Fair, a three-day event with more than 60,000 attendees.
