The National Weather Service forecast for today is almost a carbon copy of yesterday - sunny skies with a low risk of rip currents.

Skies today will be partly sunny, with slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Air temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour. There's a slight chance of showers.

There's a low risk of rip currents, but rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you always bring a flotation device with you in the water. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees.

Waves will be 2 feet high with light swells.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. The lightning threat is low, means there is little chance of lightning.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will roll in at 10:50 am. Low tide will arrive at 5:09 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:08 p.m.
