Parts Of Berkeley Under Tornado Warning: National Weather Service

A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect for Ocean County. Damaging winds and hail are expected.

BERKELEY, NJ — A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Burlington and Ocean counties Friday afternoon until 1:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for Ocean County, according to the National Weather Service. That warning is in effect until 2:15 p.m.

A tornado, sixty mph wind gusts and quarter size hail is possible, the National Weather Service said.

For those in the tornado warning area, flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

For your protection, the National Weather Service recommends moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of your building.

Areas impacted by the tornado warning include Presidential Lakes Estates, Lakehurst, Wrightstown, Cassville, Presidential Lakes, Woodruff, Cedar Glen Lakes, Whiting, Pine Ridge At Crestwood, Browns Mills, Holiday City-Berkeley, Country Lake Estates, Crestwood Village, Fort Dix, McGuire AFB and New Egypt.

The severe thunderstorm warning includes Toms River, Atlantic City, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean City, Lakewood, Jackson, Howell, Manalapan, Barnegat, Pleasantville, Tinton Falls, Hammonton, Beachwood, Somers Point, Ventnor City, Brigantine, Northfield, Absecon and Margate City.
