Pine Barren Modelers Club Cleans Up Locker Street in Berkeley
Volunteers filled a truck with garbage, mattresses and chairs at the community clean-up event.

BERKELEY, NJ—Twenty members of the Pine Barren Modelers RC Club participated in a community clean-up event Saturday morning on Locker Street.
Participants used equipment provided by Berkeley Township to remove trash littered along Locker Street for about an hour and a half.
“It came out real nice when we were done,” said Club President, Ron Pinksaw. “We filled up a truck with trash bags and garbage, mattresses and chairs.”

The club requested to clean up Locker Street after noticing piles of trash accumulating in the grass and laying near the fence of the field where they fly remote control model airplanes, helicopters and drones.
Pinksaw said the club plans to participate in a community clean-up project on an annual basis.

According to Pinksaw, 93 people belong to the Pine Barren Modelers RC Club and at least one member is present at their facility each day to fly model airplanes depending on weather conditions.
“It was a good release for us during the pandemic to be able to fly there,” Pinksaw said. “We’re open to the public if anybody wants to come out and watch, and if they’re interested, we would help train them on how to fly.”
