A Soggy Day Ahead At Ocean County Beaches

Fog, drizzle, cool temperatures ahead for beachgoers.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies, patchy fog and drizzle at Ocean County beaches today. It'a not going to be a good day to work on your tan.

Temperatures have dropped markedly from the torrid days of last week, with highs only in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the northeast at 15 miles per hour.

The rip current risk today is moderate. Check with local beach patrols before you head into the water. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you when you go swimming.

Waves will be around four feet high, southerly swells of two feet. The ocean water temperature has dropped to 73 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a four, which the NWS considers moderate. There is no lightning threat.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 9:57 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 4:09 p.m., followed by another high tide at 10:13 p.m.
