Taco Bell, Bojangles Proposed For Former Beachwood Mall Site
Berkeley Town Center, the former Beachwood Mall, will go before the planning board with several new chains proposed.

BERKELEY, NJ — Several fast food restaurant chains are proposed for Berkeley Town Center, the new iteration of the former Beachwood Mall, including some that have no presence in New Jersey, according to public notice.
Berkeley Shopping Center Urban Renewal, LLC, the property owner, has filed an application with the township planning board to seek amended preliminary and final major site plan approval for Phase 1 and amended preliminary major site plan approval for Phase 2. Some aspects were previously approved, but now the applicant has asked to change the sizes and locations of some buildings.

The notice also includes some of the businesses proposed for the plaza. These include the following:
- Taco Bell with drive-thru
- Bojangles with drive-thru
- Burger King with drive-thru
- 7 Brew Coffee Shop with drive-thru
- Two additional unnamed drive-thru fast food restaurants
- Sparks Car Wash
Bojangles is a North Carolina-based fried chicken restaurant with no current NJ locations, though one is planned in Piscataway.

Similarly, 7 Brew has no current NJ presence. The Arkansas-based coffee "stand" operates exclusively via drive-thru - you don't go inside the store.
The property owner is also seeking additional variances for things like signage.
The proposal will go before the Berkeley Township Planning Board on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building (627 Pinewald Keswick Road).
