UPDATE: Judge Orders Tearful Sex Offender Back To Jail : Report

Christopher Wilson, a Tier 3 sex offender, sobbed as he was led away.

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato never wanted Christopher Wilson back on the street.

Coronato and Little Egg Harbor Police Chief Richard Buzby opposed Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels' decision to release Wilson, 20, who both consider a sexual predator.

Now Coronato and Buzby can relax. At least for the near future, according to app.com.

Daniels ordered Wilson back to jail this afternoon more than a month after a State Appellate Court sent the case back to Daniels to reconsider his decision to release Wilson with the stipulation that he be placed under house arrest and electronic monitoring.

Wilson was jailed on Jan. 19 on attempted sexual assault and child endangerment charges after authorities say he approached a 12-year-old girl as she got off her school bus in Little Egg Harbor and offered her a game console in exchange for sex. The girl refused.

Wilson, classified as a high-risk sexual offender, has a juvenile record for an attempted sexual assault he committed when he was 12.

Daniels said he considered that Wilson is undergoing mental-health treatment, as well as a letter from Wilson's pregnant fiancee saying that he has been attending parenting classes.

But he also considered Wilson's juvenile adjudications in 2010 for attempted sexual assault and child endangerment, crimes that Wilson committed in 2009 for which he received a probationary term, as well as two violations of that probationary term for which he was sent to the state's Training School for Boys in Jamesburg for three years in 2013.

Daniels said today he concluded the state put forth clear and convincing evidence that no monetary bail or conditions, or a combination of both, could ensure that Wilson would not pose a threat to the public or attempt to obstruct justice if he is allowed to remain free pending trial.

Wilson's next court date is April 10 before Superior Court Judge Patricia B. Roe.
