While most patients complete 36 sessions of cardiac rehab, 88-year-old Don Squier recently celebrated his 1,000th workout. For decades, Don has faced down serious heart problems—from a heart attack at age 47 to two open-heart bypass surgeries, a stent, and a pacemaker. So, what’s his secret to not just surviving, but thriving?

Don credits his incredible resilience to the "caring, individualized treatment" at Hackensack Meridian Ocean University Medical Center. Guided by a team that includes cardiologist Ali Moosvi, M.D. medical director Todd Cohen, D.O., and rehabilitation nurse Jessica Capper, RN, Don has transformed his health journey into an inspiring story of dedication.

Find out how this great-grandfather defied the odds and why he says, “I don’t think I’d still be here without the rehabilitation program.”
