Brick Woman's Life Of Giving Honored On 100th Birthday
Brick Mayor Lisa Crate helped honor Duna Ferrugiari, now a resident at Brandywine Reflections by Monarch in Brick.
Brick Township, NJ — On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Brandywine Reflections by Monarch hosted a heartwarming celebration honoring the 100th birthday of beloved resident Duna Ferrugiari.
Born on January 21, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, Duna has led an extraordinary life filled with family, service, and community impact. Her career as a Secretary for the Navy Exchange (NAVRESSO) and her devotion as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were celebrated by residents, staff, and distinguished guests.
The festivities were attended by Brick Township Mayor Lisa Crate, who presented Duna with a special proclamation honoring her century of life and contributions to the community. Guests enjoyed learning about Duna’s vibrant life, from her love for the New York Mets, big band music, and Frank Sinatra to her dedication as a volunteer for the Deborah Heart Association and her tradition of selling poppies on Veterans Day.

Adding a personal touch to the celebration, Vinnie Astorini, Life Enrichment Director, joined Duna in preparing her favorite penne and vodka sauce for her birthday lunch—a delightful nod to her love of family traditions and cooking.
“Duna’s life is a remarkable story of resilience, love, and service,” said Vinnie. “Celebrating her 100th birthday was an honor for all of us at Brandywine Reflections by Monarch.”
