Brick Driver Injured In Head-On Crash With Dump Truck: Police

The driver was turning on Squankum Road in Howell and crossed the center line, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — A Brick Township resident was injured Wednesday in a partially head-on crash involving a car and a dump truck on Squankum Road in Howell Township, police said.

The crash happened about 8 a.m. on Squankum Road near the intersection with Herbertsville Road, police said. The 58-year-old Brick resident was driving a 2012 Audi A3 and turned right from Herbertsville Road onto Squankum Road going north, using the merging lane, police said.

As the driver got onto Squankum Road, they crossed the center line and crashed into a 2024 Kenworth dump truck driven by a 62-year-old person from Pennsylvania, partially head-on, police said.

The driver of the Audi was taken to a local hospital for treatment; the driver of the dump truck did not report injuries, police said. They did not identify either driver.

The road was closed for a lengthy period during the cleanup and investigation, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Howell Patrolman Kyle Bush of the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-938-4575, ext. 2667.

In addition to Howell police, New Jersey State Police, the Squankum and Ramtown fire companies, the Howell Township Fire Bureau, Monmouth County Hazmat, Howell Office of Emergency Management, Howell Police EMS, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, the Monmouth County Highway Department and Certified Auto Mall responded.
