Gary Eicher, Past President Of Brick First Aid Squad, Dies At 71
Mr. Eicher, who lived in Toms River, worked for Zodiac Aerospace in Wall for 30 years, retiring in 2008; he was a Navy veteran, family said.

Gary R. Eicher, a past president and past captain of the Brick Township First Aid Squad and a Navy veteran who lived in Toms River, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Vincent Health Center in Girard, PA, while visiting family. He was 71.
Mr. Eicher was born in Akron on October 16, 1946, and graduated from South High School in Akron in 1964, according to Edder Funeral Home of Girard, PA, which is handling the funeral arrangements. Following high school he worked at Firestone Tire Company. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and served at the Joint Expeditionary Base in Little Creek, VA. He continued serving in the US Naval Reserves until 1974. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to work at Firestone in Akron and also worked as a paramedic there as well.
Mr. Eicher was most recently employed by Zodiac Aerospace in Wall, NJ, and worked there for nearly 30 years before retiring from the company in 2008.

Mr. Eicher was a life member of the Brick Township First Aid Squad and volunteered with the squad for more than 20 years. He served as a past captain and was a past president of the squad. He also was a New Jersey state certified emergency medical technician. He loved golfing, making his own candy and watching movies with and visiting his grandkids.
He was preceded in death his parents, Donald C. and Anne L. (Vargo) Eicher, and by a sister, Janice Downey.

Gary will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife of35 years, Denise C. (Smith) Eicher, whom he married July 17, 1982; his two daughters, Kimberly L. French and her husband, Roger, and Tricia M. Orum and her husband, Thomas; three sons, Timothy A. Eicher and his wife, Stephanie, Donald C. Eicher, and Charles R. Eicher; his grandchildren, Natalie S. Dixon and her husband, Jeremy; Bryce V. Orum; Charlotte G. Eicher and Trystan T. Orum; his great-grandchildren, Avarie R. Dixon and Austynne E. Dixon, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the memorial service that begins at noon at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St., East, Girard, PA 16417.
