'His Generosity Was Never-Ending:' Brick's Robert Handlin Mourned

Robert M. Handlin, who owned Hamilton Soap Products for 35 years, "remained the eternal optimist," his family said.

BRICK, NJ — Robert Michael Handlin, 76, of Brick, died unexpectedly May 2, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to parents Ralph and Midge Handlin. All knew him to be a hard-working and passionate man. He owned and operated Hamilton Soap Products for over 35 years. Bob served as a role model of how to live life to the fullest and showed the importance of always putting family first.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Midge Handlin, sister Beth and half-sisters Linda Ganning and Nancy Vannucci. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; his four daughters and sons-in-law Corinne and Dave Hagerman, Jennifer and Pat Delaney, Julie and Patrick Begley Jr., Amanda and Eric Laughlin, and his nine grandchildren, who he adored. He is also survived by his half-sister Dawn Calefato and half-brother Bill Evers.

No matter the obstacles, Bob always remained the eternal optimist. In life, the proverbial glass was always half-full and his generosity was never-ending. The love for his family and the Jersey Shore was infectious and to know him was to love him.

Visiting will be Saturday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road., Toms River. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org. www.silvertonmemorial.com.
