K's Kitten Rescue Announces K's Catnip Corner Cat Lounge Coming Soon To Downtown Toms River
K's Catnip Corner Cat Lounge in Downtown Toms River will offer the community a space to work, relax, play and learn -surrounded by cats.

K's Kitten Rescue is a 501c3 not-for-profit cat rescue registered in New Jersey. K's Kitten Rescue primarily serves Ocean and Monmouth Counties in New Jersey, as well as surrounding areas around the Jersey shore. The mission of K’s Kitten Rescue is to stabilize, nurture and socialize vulnerable kittens and find them permanent homes. K’s Kitten Rescue is run solely by volunteers committed to help find homes for the cats in our community.
K's Kitten Rescue was directed by Louise Wootton, who unexpectedly passed away in 2024. In the early years of Louise Wootton’s work rescuing kittens and cats, she had a room next to her office at Georgian Court fondly referred to as “The Cat Room,” where she fostered kittens caught on campus and students would come to hang out. It was a sanctuary for all involved.
As time went on and K’s Kittens launched formally as a rescue, much of the operation moved into Louise’s home. If you adopted from the rescue, there was a good chance, especially in the first few years, that you picked up your bundle of fur from her home. If not, you visited one of her fosters to meet and welcome the new member of your family.

In the aftermath of Louise’s passing, K's continued with housing the rescue’s records and supplies in the homes of our board members. It has been less than ideal but we have made it work. We have dreamed of having a space to help the rescue continue to grow and honor the work Louise did. It is something Louise had contemplated and discussed with several of us.
We envision that space could be so many things - a space to store our supplies; a place to find funky cat themed things; a place to hold events to raise funds to support our work; a haven for cats and humans, where you could come for a day to meet some of our cats while you have coffee or do some work. Renting a space also opens a world of possibilities for us, including fundraising and grant opportunities that are not currently available.

K's Kitten Rescue is excited to announce that we have a space! K's Catnip Corner, our name for the space, will be opening soon in Downtown Toms River.
We are asking the community to help support our haven for cats and humans, where we will welcome the community to have coffee or do work and attend funky cat events. While leasing a space brings the possibility of many opportunities, it also brings with it costs. Dreams like this are not free, and this is where we are hoping you might come in. We have received a generous donation that will help us begin to get this space off the ground, but we need to raise additional funds to ensure we start on solid footing.
We have a goal of raising $50,000 by December to give us a solid start.
We welcome any donation in any amount and will publicly acknowledge donors in the space with a plaque bearing their names. We welcome individual donations and business or corporate donors.
We have the following donation tiers available:
Donations of $10,000 will be designated as Lion sponsors.
Donations of $5,000 will be designated as Tiger sponsors.
Donations of $1,000 or more will be designated as Leopard sponsors.
Donations of $500-$999 will be designated as Puma sponsors.
Donations of $100-$499 will be designated as Cheetah sponsors.
Those who choose monthly recurring donations of any amount will be designated as Lynx sponsors.
All donors will be recognized on our website; major donors will be highlighted in the space.
Donations can be made online at https://kskittenrescue.org/building-a-dream/. Donations may also be made by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or by check. Every donation is tax deductible as permitted by law.
Thank you for thinking of us and supporting the work of rescuing kittens and cats and finding them furever homes.
