Traffic light temporarily downed on Route 70

A traffic light on New Jersey Route 70 was reported to be in the road late Sunday night, Brick police said.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2nd, Brick Township Police received a report that a traffic light pole had fallen into the road at the intersection of New Jersey Route 70 and Herbertsville Road.

Brick police responded and before long had the pole moved from the center of the road to the side, allowing motorists to pass through without risk of injury or accident. At 10:30 p.m., Brick police handed control of the situation over to the Special Police unit in order to allow officers to return to their regular patrolling.

Officials with the Brick Township Police Department say that it is not currently known who is responsible for the downed pole, but an investigation is underway.

Police say no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

As of the morning of March 3rd, it has been confirmed that the traffic light is back in place and is functioning normally.
