New Bridgewater Street Name May Be On The Horizon

The proposed street name stems from the cottage-like homes to be built for seniors, according to engineering department documents.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A new street name in the Martinsville section of town is set to be discussed during the latest Bridgewater Planning Board meeting on Tuesday, officials said.

The proposed street name, “Cottage Court,” stems from the cottage-like homes for seniors set to be built at The Cottages at Chimney Rock off Chimney Rock Road, according to engineering department documents.

“I am not aware of any other street in Bridgewater named ‘Cottage Court’ and in speaking with the Martinsville postmaster, they had no objection, either,” Warren-based Martinsville Realty Associates co-owner Robert D. Berlant said in a letter to Bridgewater Director of Municipal Services Thomas Genova.

“We came up with the name Cottage Court because the homes will look like cottages and are for seniors, head of household, 62 years old minimum,” Berlant said.

An opening date for The Cottages at Chimney Rock has not yet been made official; however, several three- and four-bedroom homes on Cottage Court are already listed for sale.
