Update: JCP&L Sets Power Deadline, Offers Free Ice
The utility company said 95% of service should be restored by August 11

CHATHAM, NJ—Tropical Storm Isaias dumped more than an inch of rain on Chatham Tuesday, and high winds caused more than 1,500 power outages. Nearly a third of the township was without power on Wednesday and Jersey Central Power & Light, the electrical utility for most of New Jersey, has established a Global Estimated Time of Restoration of 11 p.m., Tuesday, August 11.
"This means 95 percent of the customers currently out of power will have their power restored by that time," said a statement issued by the company Wednesday night. Township (1,400) and borough (500) outages accounted for 1,900 of the nearly 100,000 in Morris County without power.
A spokesman said more than 1,800 technicians, line workers, damage assessors, and support personnel were brought in from non-affected areas to restore power service. Free water and ice is available at multiple locations throughout Morris County for customers who have been without service for at least 24 hours.
