$50K OK'd for Scarborough Covered Bridge Repair
The bridge will be restored from a crash last month.

Cherry Hill’s iconic Scarborough Covered Bridge could run as high as $50,000 to repair, but township officials who approved the emergency funding say it won’t cost taxpayers anything when it’s finished.
Township council unanimously approved the repairs Monday night, noting insurance from at least one source—the driver who caused the crash—will cover the cost of the repairs to the bridge, which was damaged in late May when a car slammed into the eastern side of the span.
“We have been assured those funds will be recovered,” council President David Fleisher said. “In the meantime, we need to get this done for safety purposes.”

The bridge has remained open to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic since the accident, though the walkway on the east side of the bridge has been blocked off, due to those safety concerns.
