Arson Not Ruled Out in Victor Avenue Fire, Officials Say
A police investigation has yet to wrap up into the house fire last week.
Last week’s fire that destroyed a home on Victor Avenue remains under investigation, and arson hasn’t been ruled out as a possible cause to this point, Cherry Hill fire and police officials said.
The township fire marshal’s investigation has been concluded, fire Chief Patrick Kelly said, but police have yet to wrap up their work regarding the fire.
“They haven’t ruled it accidental,” Kelly said. “They’re not sure what the circumstances were.”

The investigation into whether there was any criminal activity associated with the fire is ongoing and won’t wrap up until at least some time next week, police said.
The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. June 27, and it took more than two dozen firefighters from four engine and two ladder companies to bring the fire under control about 40 minutes later, according to fire officials.

The blaze burned through the roof of the split-level home and heavily damaged the living area and second floor, but no one was injured in the fire.
The homeowners, who watched as investigators from the Cherry Hill Police Department, Cherry Hill Fire Department and Camden County Prosecutor’s Office combed through the wreckage through the afternoon after the fire, had been on vacation when it broke out. They declined to comment at the scene last week.
