Automatic Reader Spots Stolen Car in Marlton, Police Say

The car had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia last weekend, police said.

A 69-year-old Philadelphia woman was driving a stolen car when she was caught on Route 73 in Marlton Friday afternoon, Evesham Township Police said.

Mary Blackmore was on a section of the highway within the police department’s data-driven enforcement area near the intersection of Center Boulevard, when an Evesham officer got a hit on her car from the automatic license plate reader mounted on his cruiser, police said.

The car had been reported stolen in Philadelphia on Saturday, police said, and the Evesham officer stopped Blackmore and arrested her without incident.

Blackmore was charged with third-degree receiving stolen property and was released on her own recognizance.
