Camden Drug Sweep Nets 26 Arrests, Including 2 From Cherry Hill

Two Cherry Hill residents were among 26 people arrested in a drug sweep targeting drug corners in North Camden this week, Camden County Police said.

Jacqueline Cicalese, 29, and Teofila Torio, 35, were arrested Wednesday and charged with loitering to commit a controlled dangerous substance offense, a disorderly persons charge carrying the potential of a six-month jail sentence and a fine of up to $1,000.

Cicalese and Torio were among 18 suburban residents arrested in the sting, representing roughly 70 percent of the arrests, reaffirming the notion held by authorities that buyers outside the city are the problem.

“The suburban drug buyer continues to be the lifeblood of the city's open-air drug markets,” Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said following one recent drug sting.

An even higher percentage of suburban buyers were arrested two weeks ago in a similar sweep—36 of 45 buyers in North Camden were from outside the city, police said.
