Cherry Hill Motel Shooting Involved 2 Men, Police Say

No one was hit in the gunfire, which happened just after midnight Friday.

Two men who were attending a party at a Route 70 motel opened fire on each other just after midnight Friday, but didn’t hit anyone in the process, Cherry Hill Police said.

The unidentified men, who fled the area before police arrived on scene, were attending a party in room 225 at the America’s Best Value Inn before the shooting, which resulted from a disturbance at the party, police said.

Despite interviewing at least nine witnesses at the motel in the early hours Friday, no conclusive information regarding the shooters has yet come out, police said.

At least six shell casings were recovered from the motel’s parking lot, police said, and a spent round was found in an apartment in the Bishop’s View complex, just west of the motel.

Officers spent close to three hours at the scene, checking the lot with a K-9 unit and sweeping the area with the help of high-powered lights from one of the fire department’s ladder trucks.

They later later towed a maroon Toyota from the scene.

Motel residents said it was a chaotic scene following the gunshots.

"Everybody started running," said one resident, who declined to identify himself.

Two men attending the party were arrested, though not in connection with the shooting, police said.

Myles K. Truitt, 20, of the 2200 block of Mulford Avenue in Pennsauken, and Miles J. Taylor, 21, of the 4700 block of Lafayette Avenue in Pennsauken, were both arrested on outstanding warrants.

Anyone with information about the shooters or the incident is asked to to call the Cherry Hill Police Department’s 24 hour line at 856-488-7828.
