Cherry Hill Municipal Tax Rate Flat 2 Years Straight

Township officials tout fiscal responsibility as they set the preliminary rate for the 2013-2014 budget.

For the second straight year, Cherry Hill taxpayers don’t have to worry about one portion of the tax bill.

The preliminary municipal levy, which passed township council unanimously Tuesday night, won’t increase a penny this year, after the township pulled off the same feat in the 2012-2013 budget.

“Council and I remain committed to fiscal responsibility,” Mayor Chuck Cahn said. “As we move forward, we will continue looking for ways to maximize the services we deliver, and to deliver them in the smartest, most efficient way possible.”

The budget for 2013-2014 isn’t yet complete, but should be introduced in August, with final passage in September, township officials said.

“We still have a little bit of work to put together,” Cahn said. “Early on, we’re looking very strong.”
