Downed Power Lines Close Route 70

Downed utility lines, possibly from a lightning strike in Tuesday’s storm, shut down Route 70 in both directions at Springdale Road as of about 1:45 p.m.

Traffic cameras in the area showed burning power lines on the westbound side of the highway just east of Springdale, with multiple police units on scene, diverting traffic.

The highway reopened around 4:30 p.m., after emergency crews handled repairs.
