Camden Catholic's field hockey team also notched a win Thursday.

The Dennis Stein era got off to a solid start, as Cherry Hill East's boys soccer team blanked Camden Catholic, 5-0, behind Jacob Russ's four-goal effort Thursday afternoon.
Stein took over the reins of the team this fall, after longtime coach Karl Moehlmann retired at the end of last season.

The Lions' Molly Sampson scored her team's only goal as Eastern edged West to start the fall.
Girls volleyball
Rancocas Valley 2, West 0
The Lions kept it tight in the second set after falling in the first, 25-10, but Rancocas Valley edged out West, 25-22, to sweep the match. West's Chelsea Holiday had two aces and eight assists in the loss.
