NJ Man, 76, Caught With 50 Child Sex Abuse Videos Sentenced: Feds

Videos and images found at his residence contained "depictions of prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct," officials said.

WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ – A Gloucester County man who was previously convicted of interstate child porn charges in a separate case was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison after being caught with 50 videos and 200 images of child sexual abuse in 2020, federal officials said.

Joseph Cooper, 76, of Williamstown, previously pleaded guilty on Sept. 13, 2022, to one count of possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.

Cooper was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $73,000 in restitution for possessing images and videos of child sexual abuse, Sellinger said.

An October 2020 search of Cooper’s residence found the photos and videos, including “depictions of prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” federal officials previously said.

“[Cooper’s] computers also contained logs documenting Cooper’s participation in internet chatrooms relating to sexual interest in children,” federal officials added.
