NJ Transit Preparations for Hurricane Sandy Currently Underway
Spokesman John Durso says the company is closely monitoring the storm and will provide updates to bus and train schedules on its website and via Twitter.

Update: NJ TRANSIT may shut down the entire transit system Monday.
NJ TRANSIT has canceled work on the Atlantic City line this week as preparations for Hurricane Sandy get underway, spokesman John Durso said Friday.
A pole replacement project was slated to shut down the line overnight Sunday and Monday, but work has been canceled with the storm bearing down on the area. Though the storm could change things, rail service is scheduled to be normal on both those nights.

Otherwise, preparations on the rail, light rail, and bus routes in New Jersey consists of the following, Durso said:
- NJ TRANSIT’s maintenance forces have begun stockpiling stone, while inspecting culverts, drainage pipes and rights-of-way to ensure they are clear of blockages that could exacerbate flooding and disrupt rail service.
- NJ TRANSIT rail and light rail crews and equipment will be on standby to respond to downed trees, wires and flooding.
- Bus and Access Link maintenance and staff will be on-call 24/7 to respond to problems, and the NJ TRANSIT customer service's field offices and call center are prepared to extend their hours of operation if needed, Durso said.
