Red Robin Plans Fall Opening at the Plaza at Cherry Hill

Construction is well underway for the restaurant.

Burger fans will have another option in Cherry Hill in just a few months, with Red Robin set to open later this year, company officials said.

Though an exact date has yet to be set for the 6,000-square foot restaurant, currently under construction in what used to be a section of parking lot along Route 38 next to Red Lobster, everything’s currently on track for a fall opening, according to Jamie Winter, Red Robin’s communications manager.

The Cherry Hill location, like its other South Jersey counterparts, will feature a full bar and more than 15 varieties of hamburgers, as well as the chain’s signature bottomless steak fries.

A final count on seating at the Cherry Hill restaurant hasn’t been determined, Winter said. The chain opened a 210-seat location in Deptford, at the time the company’s seventh in New Jersey, in February, occupying what was previously several storefronts in that mall’s Boscov’s wing.

Red Robin officially signed the lease on the Plaza at Cherry Hill property earlier this year, following planning board approval for the restaurant last fall.

Red Robin, which is headquartered in Greenwood Village, CO, has more than 460 locations across the United States and Canada. Its restaurants typically employ around 150 people, Winter said, though hiring has yet to be posted for its Cherry Hill location.

Red Robin will have plenty of competition in the burger market, from gourmet spots like Bobby Flay-owned Bobby’s Burger Palace at the neighboring Cherry Hill Mall and Zinburger on Haddonfield Road, to the popular quick-serve Five Guys at the Marketplace at Garden State Park.

Even Collingswood is getting in on the burger craze—though Blackbird is departing Haddon Avenue, it’ll be replaced by chef Alex Capasso’s deluxe burger joint concept he’s calling Benny's Burger Joint.
