Scammer Strikes Unsuccessfully at Wegmans, Police Say
A woman tried to pull a confidence scheme, and police say to keep an eye out for similar tricks.

A con artist tried to scam a senior citizen out of cash outside Wegmans last week, Cherry Hill Police said, but was ultimately unsuccessful.
The scammer, described as a black woman in dark clothing, a tan baseball cap and sunglasses, tried to pull what’s referred to as a “pigeon drop,” police said.
She approached her would-be victim around 12:30 p.m. on May 24 with a bag purportedly filled with money, police said, then tried to convince her victim to withdraw cash as a good-faith gesture, with the promise of splitting the cash in the bag later.
