Shots Fired At Cherry Hill Motel, No One Hurt, Police Say
No one was immediately reported hurt in the shooting, police said.
Several gunshots rang out at the America's Best Value Inn just after midnight Friday, but there appeared to be no one hit at the motel, Cherry Hill Police said.
Officers converged on the Route 70 motel and a nearby stretch of North Park Drive, speaking with at least nine people inside the cordoned-off courtyard following the gunfire.
Police swept the parking lot with flashlights and high-powered lights from a Cherry Hill Fire Department ladder truck, checked several cars and brought in a K-9 unit around 2 a.m. to continue the search, then later towed a maroon Toyota from the scene.
Three patrol cars also staked out an area just east of the motel on North Park Drive during the investigation, where another car was stopped at the side of the road.
There were no suspects as of 3 a.m., police said.
Motel residents said at least five shots were fired near the south building, sending people scattering for cover.
"Everybody started running," said one resident, who declined to identify himself.
Though there appeared to be no one hit at the motel, police said they were checking hospitals in the area for any possible gunshot victims.
