Traffic Signal Project In Camden County Cuts Down On Drive Times
Drivers who use Haddonfield Road say they are seeing shorter drive times after the completion of the Traffic Signal Retiming.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Drivers who use Haddonfield Road say they are seeing shorter drive times after the completion of the Traffic Signal Retiming, according to Camden County officials.
The Camden County Department of Public Works, in partnership with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVPRC) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJOT) recently completed the three-year project, which resulted in 12 recalculated traffic signals from Wyndam Road near Route 73 in Pennsauken to Town Center Drive near Route 70 in Cherry Hill.
Weekday morning commuters can expect to see a 34 percent reduction in travel times when travelling south, and a 30 percent reduction travelling north, officials said. Mid-day weekend travelers can expect to see a 22.5 percent travel time reduction heading south, and an 8.4 percent reduction north.

“After a year of pandemic-related travel restrictions and work from home arrangements, this should come as a special treat to motorists as they return to their normal travel patterns,” Camden County Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works, said. “If you drive along Haddonfield Road frequently, you will undoubtedly notice the improvements brought about by this retiming. In addition to reducing travel time, we’ve dramatically reduced the average travel delay and number of vehicle stops, further improving the experience of driving along this major throughway.”
This project was paid for by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission using Federal Highway Administration's Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program. Additional information, including project data, analysis files, and other detailed reports will be available on the project website at: http://dvrpc.taylorwiseman.com.
