Victor Avenue House Fire Under Investigation, Officials Say
Investigators were on scene into the afternoon Thursday after the overnight fire.
A fire that destroyed a split-level home on Victor Avenue overnight Thursday remains under investigation by multiple agencies, and no cause has yet been determined, Cherry Hill Fire Department officials said.
Four engine companies and two ladder companies responded to multiple 911 calls from neighbors after the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m., and spent about 40 minutes bringing the fire, which had engulfed the living room and portions of the second floor and attic, under control, fire officials said.
Though there had been reports of people being trapped in the house, firefighters who responded quickly determined the house was empty. The homeowners had been on vacation when the fire broke out, neighbors said.

Investigators remained on scene into the afternoon, inspecting the interior of the home and checking a Honda Civic parked in the driveway. Several Camden County Prosecutor's Office fire investigation team trucks were out at the scene, and at one point, a K-9 unit was brought inside.
The damage to the home was obvious—the fire burned massive holes in the upper floor's roof and left the living room gaping to the sky, and soot blackened portions of the home's stone facade and tan siding.

Damage inside the home was extensive, as well, fire officials said.
Both the Cherry Hill Fire Marshal and the prosecutor's office are investigating the cause; at least one detective from the Cherry Hill Police Department was also at the scene.
