Lockdown Lifted at Voorhees Schools

Eastern Regional High School's Tier 1 lockdown was lifted late Wednesday morning, after authorities identified and contacted the owner of a suspicious car found with ammunition and a small bag near Silver Lake, Voorhees Police said.

Both the lockdown, which ended just after 11:30 a.m., and a shutdown of Lakeview Drive in the area near the car were done only as a precaution, police said, and there were no threats made to the school.

Voorhees Police and the county bomb squad were called out to investigate the car, and there were extra security measures in place at other nearby schools, police said.

Schools in Cherry Hill were not affected by the situation.
