One Planet, One Family, One Future

Where/When: Moorestown Community House, 16 E. Main St. June 26, 1-5 p.m.

Why Go: Support the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Women's Division Haiti and the Ananda Marga College in India at this fundraiser. The nonprofit organization is raising money to fight the cholera outbreak in Haiti, as well as support the college, which serves one of India’s poorest areas. There also will be silent auction.

Price: $26, which includes light refreshments.

 

Where/When: Widener University, Quick Stadium, 1 University Pl., Chester, PA 19013. June 25, 5 p.m. Gates open at 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: Mark the start of summer with the Philadelphia Independence soccer team. 2011 high school graduates get free admission with proof of ID, and teachers and students get $10.

Price: Regularly priced tickets start at $12

 

Wawa Welcome America Festival

Where/When: Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103. June 24-July 4.

Why Go: Celebrate all things America, leading up to the Fourth of July, at the annual Welcome America Festival. Weekend events include the Taste of Philadelphia, plus a concert and fireworks. Visit welcomeamerica.com for the full schedule.

 

Third Annual Peggy Spiegler Melanoma Research Foundation 5K Run/Walk

Where/When: Cooper River Park, N. Park Drive and McClellan Blvd., Pennsauken. June 25, 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Why Go: Support the foundation’s work to fund melanoma research and educate the public while getting a 5K walk or run under your belt. There also will activities for children after the 5K that include a fun run, face painting and music.

Price: Advanced registration—$25-adult; $10/age 12-18; under 12/free. Walk up registration—$30.
