1 Dead In Clark Townhouse Fire, Investigation Ongoing

Investigation on the cause of Sunday's fatal fire at Catherine Estates in Clark is still ongoing, according to the fire department.

CLARK, NJ — One person was killed and two residences in the complex were severely damaged in a major fire in a Clark townhouse on Sunday.

Clark Police Patrol Units and the Clark Fire Department arrived at the Catherine Estates development at around 10 a.m. and found there was an active fire. Investigation regarding the cause of the fire is still ongoing, according to Lieutenant Christian Lott of Clark Fire.

First responders tried to enter the residence to check if anyone was inside, but they were unable to due to heavy smoke, fire and locked doors.

The Clark Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire within a short time. The fire badly damaged two residences within the complex.

During the subsequent investigation, a badly burned deceased person was found inside the building.
