Massive Fire Destroys 3 Homes, 4th Damaged In Union County
The raging fire destroyed three Elizabeth homes, causing up to 30 people to be displaced. No major injuries were reported, Fire Dept. said.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A raging fire destroyed three homes, and damaged a fourth, in Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.
The fire began around 3:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Smith Street before quickly engulfing multiple buildings, a spokesperson for Elizabeth's mayor told NBC New York. The five-alarm fire completely destroyed three homes, causing roughly 25 to 30 people to be displaced.
Fire departments from multiple towns in Union County rushed to scene and brought the fire under control. Red Cross also arrived and assisted residents affected.

No serious injuries were reported, and no victims were found after a search of the homes, according to NBC New York. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
