Where Are the Worst Potholes in Cranford?
Patch readers named a number of streets around Cranford that are dotted with potholes. Do you agree?

Although the weather is warming up, winter is still reeking havoc on Cranford in a way many would not expect: Potholes.
Potholes develop after water from snow and rain seeps into small cracks in the roadway surface, according to state highway officials. As temperatures drop, the water freezes and expands, making the cracks larger, eventually forming potholes. Heavy traffic, pavement age, vehicle weights, and snow and ice operations contribute to the problem.
After the seemingly never-ending winter, Patch asked readers to tell us where the worst potholes are in Cranford. Here is a sample of some of the comments from the Cranford Patch Facebook page:

- “Almost lost the tire on Springfield Avenue yesterday… Big pothole near grays funeral home!!”
- “Manor Avenue, just before the bike path - although the 11 potholes within a 30ft span do serve as speed control”
- “West Holly is a mess...they are so big they need their own zip code“
- “It would be so much easier if we reported where there were no potholes.”

To report a pothole on a state highway, call the New Jersey Department of Transportation at 1-800-POTHOLE or fill out an online form at NJDOT’s website.
