Council to Vote on Liquor License for Elks
After getting approval from the state, the Elks now need the East Hanover council to award the license.

The East Hanover Township Council will vote on a resolution approving a club liquor license for the Elks Lodge when they meet Monday evening.
Lodge members previously approached township officials about allowing the license earlier this year, but at the time the township had no ordinance allowing a club liquor license.
The council unanimously approved such an ordinance in April, and the Elks sought approval for a club license through the state. Now with that approval in place, the council must approve the specific license for the Elks.
Officials said the organization will have to follow all New Jersey Alcoholic Beverage Control laws.
The club license will have a fee of $188, per state statute. Unlike other liquor licenses, which are created relative to the population and which the township can raise fees on by 20 percent each year up to $2,500, the club license fee will remain flat.
Mayor Joseph Pannullo said the Elks are a charitable organization and, "We would like to extend the same welcoming hand to them here."
The council will also vote on multiple other resolutions, including an award for the 2013 road resurfacing project, and the insertion of several special revenue items into the budget.
