Man Gets 11 Years For Fatal Hit-&-Run That Killed East Windsor Woman

Giovanni Gaines-Little was sentenced to prison for the crash that killed East Windsor resident Kerri Lynn Shea.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — A 24-year-old Camden man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in South Brunswick last year that killed East Windsor resident Kerri Lynn Shea, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Raymond Hayducka said.

Giovanni Gaines-Little, 24, was arrested on Jan. 29, 2024, and subsequently charged.

On Feb. 25, 2023, around 9:58 p.m., authorities responded to the intersection of Route 130 and Route 32 in South Brunswick following the report of a crash.

On arrival, authorities found Shea, 43, of East Windsor, unconscious and entrapped in her car.

The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene before to the arrival of law enforcement, Ciccone said.

Shea died from injuries sustained in the collision.

According to an investigation led by Officer Bryan Sites of SBPD and Det. Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Gaines-Little was the driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer that collided with Shea’s vehicle.

Gaines-Little drove the Mitsubishi Lancer through a red light at high speed, collided with . Shea’s car, and then fled the scene on foot leaving his passenger behind, authorities said. At the time of the crash, Gaines-Little was unlicensed.

On April 12, Gaines-Little pled guilty to second-degree Vehicular Homicide and second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death.

Gaines-Little was sentenced on July 29 to 5 years subject to the No Early Release Act (NERA) which means he will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence, for the crime of second-degree Vehicular Homicide, running consecutive to a 6-year sentence for the crime of second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death for a total of 11 years in New Jersey State Prison.

On release, Gaines-Little will be subject to parole supervision for 3 years, authorities said.

Shea, an East Windsor resident, was an active member of the NJ theatre community and worked in many popular productions like "The Diary of Anne Frank," and "A Christmas Carol."
