22-Year-Old Edison Man On Electric Scooter Killed In Rt. 1 Crash: PD

The man was crossing Route 1 when he was struck by an SUV, authorities said.

EDISON, NJ — A 22-year-old Edison resident was killed in an early morning crash on Route 1, Police Chief Tom Bryan said.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday the 22-year-old man was on an electric scooter crossing the road against the green light when he was struck by an SUV, Bryan said. The driver of the SUV was a man from Rahway on his way to work.

The Edison resident was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, Bryan said..

“According to initial investigation the driver of scooter may have been impaired,” Bryan said.

Authorities did not reveal the identity of the deceased. Investigation is on.
