Amazon Delivery Man Stole Packages In Metuchen, Police Said

Police say the man stole packages in several Monmouth County towns too.

An Amazon delivery driver was arrested this week after stealing packages in Monmouth and Middlesex County towns, including Metuchen. police said.

William Tindall, 25, of Jersey City was arrested Saturday and charged with theft after video footage showed him stealing the packages, according to police. He faces two charges of theft in connection to the Metuchen packages, Metuchen police said.

One of the incidents happened on Friday in Keansburg when police responded to a residence on a report of stolen packages. The resident stated she had several packages delivered throughout the day that had been stolen and provided video footage documenting the events, police said.

The video shows an Amazon delivery person place a package on the porch and return to his vehicle. A few moments later, the diver exits and approaches the residence again. He then removes several other packages delivered earlier in the day from UPS and USPS from the porch, places them in his vehicle and drives away.

Detectives were notified Saturday by a Keansburg worker about several opened packages in a garbage can. The packages belonged to the resident who was robbed on Friday and residents in surrounding towns, police said.

In an attempt to locate the driver, police requested all officers be on the lookout for any vehicles making deliveries.

Shortly after, police made contact with an Amazon Delivery person who stated he worked for Last Mile Delivery, a company based in Elizabeth and subcontracted to deliver for Amazon. Police made contact with the owner of the company, who identified the driver of packages as William Tindall.

With the help of Last Mile Delivery and the Metuchen Police Department in Middlesex County, William Tindall was located and placed under arrest where he was transported back to Keansburg Police Department and charged with theft.

Later in the day, the owner of the company retrieved the vehicle in Metuchen and located additional stolen packages, which were turned over to Metuchen PD.
