The charges stem from a motor vehicle crash on Aug. 27, 2023, at about 6:22 a.m., on Route 27 in Franklin Township.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Carlos Perez-Gaytan, 24, of Somerset, and Victor Cabrera-Francisco, 20, of North Brunswick, who were passengers in Oberoi's Audi.
Oberoi was driving the Audi Q7 southbound on Somerset Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car causing the car to leave the road hitting several trees, lamp posts, and a utility pole before coming to rest, according to authorities.
An investigation found that Oberoi was over the legal Blood Alcohol Concentration (B.A.C.) limit at the time of the incident, said McDonald. Read More: Off-Duty Cop Drunk During Double Fatal Somerset County Crash: Prosecutor
